Love? Well that's a bit off target. First piece of art that I ever tried to think originally about. Why did I hate it? Why did I like it? Why did Futurism work in paintings - for me - but seem so dated in this sculpture? Part of a series of full-scale exhibition houses erected in MoMA's Sculpture Garden, the 1954 Japanese Exhibition House was designed and built in Japan by the celebrated modernist architect Junzō Yoshimura. The house was presented as part of a multi-pronged celebration of Japanese design, which also included exhibitions of calligraphy and pottery.
