Long-term work in progress : The Ryugyong Hotel - North Korea. Started in 1986, (reportedly as a response to South Korea's completion of the world's tallest hotel, the Westin Stamford Hotel in Singapore, in 1986 by the South Korean company SsangYong Group). Scheduled to open in 1989. Still under construction, Aug 2011.
North Korea's economy is poor and salaries are low causing less money to purchase foo. This can cause starvation if not being able to purchase that food. Natural resources are poor causing dirty water and bad foods. Every 2 1/2 minutes, a North Korean dies of starvation. #Economy #NorthKorea
Trans-Siberian Railway, Russia - The Trans-Siberian Railway with its impressive 9.289 km (5.772 mile) length is the longest railway in the world. It connects Moscow with the Russian Far East, Vladivostok passing through a whole continent plus there are connecting lines into Mongolia, China and North Korea. The endless route passes by the largest lake on Earth, the Lake Baikal.
North Korea - 70,000 Christians 'locked in concentration camps'. Believers now get labeled as 'security threat'. whatever secular benefits may have trickled down to residents of the isolated communist nation, there is no evidence of any improvement in the condition of the persecuted church there. A Christian believer and three generations of his or her family can still go to prison for life just for owning a Bible.
