The global art is booming, but treacherous. Art is a popular investment because it is a form of diversification; it's tangible, and movable. However it is very risky because prices are volatile and the market is idiosyncratic. Yet it is a profitable market since the price of popular work by "Old Masters" raises 19% each year.
An interesting article if you follow the link from the Huffington Post - '10 Art Terms That Don't Mean What You Think They Mean' Except they do all mean what I thought they meant, other than Post-Modernism, which is in my view what it sounds like rather than Post-Structuralism which is what they seem to describe here, which is not unrelated.
