Fukuro obi (袋帯, "pouch obi") ~ luxurious red & white plum design. It is a grade less formal than a maru obi (丸帯, used only by geisha, maiko and brides) and the most formal obi actually used today. Fukuro obi are made in three subtypes. The most formal and expensive is patterned brocade on both sides.
This graceful vintage maru obi has auspicious motif- 'kiku' (chrysanthemum), 'ume' (Japanese plum), 'matsu' (pine tree) are woven elaborately in fan pattern. Its tranquil background also has woven wave pattern. The combination with gold threads and washy colored design has exceptionally gorgeous atmosphere. Textile is exquisite silk and has soft and comfortable touch.
