This piece of crap was the Edsel Ford. It was hubris as its worst. The Edsel was supposed to be the next generation of automobile and Ford invested billions of dollars in its development and marketing. It turned out it was only a mediocre addition to the Ford line that cannibalized sales from other Ford divisions and didn't hurt the competition at all. It was only made for 3 years, 58 - 60 and never even sold enough to make half its breakeven costs. A total marketing abortion.
