I made this hat as a birthday present for my dad as he recently moved to the mountains where he can expect buckets of snow.I used this 'Simple Hat calculator': http://www.earthguild.com/products/knitcroc/marypat/hatcalc.htmand created the fair isle motif using 200 Fair Isle Motifs by Mary Jane...

I would love to try to reproduce this fabric. I love the little "peek-a-boo" holes that allow the reverse stockinette to show through from the back. And . . . orange!

Looks like double jacquard from a Japanese knitting machine with bound off stitches at the right places. Passap knitting machine owners: how would you do this? May blister jacquard?
