Originally built in 1881, Denver's Union Station has seen many iteration. Designed by architect William A. Taylor, it featured a 128-ft tower, but was destroyed by fire in 1893. In 1894 a similar but less ornate version was rebuilt, only to be razed in 1914 to make way for the Beaux Arts masterpiece we see today. (The "Travel By Train" sign was added in the early 1950s.) Today the new Union Station is a symbol of Denver’s priority on using the past to move into our future. #PreserveCO

He purchased 320 acres on the praire east of town and built Montclair Castle.
