Here’s your morning dose of art this weekend (unless you’ve already had some latte art). I heart Calder mobiles. They look so light and swingy, yet they’re made of metal.

Alexander Calder's 920-pound, 76-foot-long mobile, the icon of the National Gallery's East Building, has gracefully presided over its central court since 1977. In 1972, when the East Building was still under construction, Calder was asked to create a large mobile that would visually anchor the structure's monumental atrium. Calder wire portraits... Finally!  An image that caught the multiplicities of the image in shadows.  That was the most Amazing part of that classic National Gallery of Art (dc) show ages ago.

Calder and his mobiles a smashing! Wire sculpture by Calder. At spring break camp we have a calder day.we are totally doing these!
