Masi Costasera Amarone Classico. This wine is intense on the nose. You'll catch dark red fruits, cherries, plums along with hints of cinnamon. Rich and earthy. Nicely structured, with a wonderful breadth. A long, velvety finish.
Masi Campofiorin - This is a super-charged Valpolicella! After an initial fermentation of selected ripe berries, Masi do something which is their speciality, re-ferment over semi-dried grapes followed by a malolactic fermentation. The result is richness, power and a velvety smoothness. This is simply too easy to drink...gorgeous cherry kirsch and blueberry flavours with hints of vanilla and cocoa. Better but two bottles, the first will slip down with a satisfying ahhhhhh!
La torricella Dolcetto d'alba Dosso 2013 Piedmont, Italy. They say in Piedmont, you sell your Barolo but drink your Dolcetto, and it's easy to see why. This is delicious and doesn't need ageing, like its bigger brother. There's a lovely violet perfume with gorgeous bitter-sweet cherry fruit...it's easy going and approachable yet interesting enough to grab your attention. This is a superb antipasti wine or perfectly matches a simple home-made pasta sauce too. Ahhh...la dolce vita!
Albergue do Bonjardim Tinto. A new addition to our growing range of Portuguese wines. This unfiltered organic and biodynamic wine is quite a powerhouse of deep forest fruit flavours yet remains very fine and balanced. 15 months maturation in medium toast French barrique adds polish. No added sulphites, no fining, no filtration. Suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. Drink now with a good decant or cellar for 5-10 years.
Masi Tupungato Passo Doble. You may be more familiar with the name Masi from their estate in Veneto, north Italy, where they produce stunning Amarone and Ripasso (which we also stock). This forward and fruit rich wine is produced at their Mendoza estate in Argentina. There is nothing hard or difficult about this wine, just waves a luscious soft fruit and light spiciness.

Herdade do Rocim Mariana Tinto. Modern Portuguese wines seem to be hidden under the radar and offer terrific value and character from their local grape varieties. Mariana is quite a mouthful blend of Aragones, Tricadeira, Alfrocheiro and Alicante Bouschet and is brimming with black cherry, black berries, blueberry, coffee and spice. Fullish bodied and intensely flavoured with an elegant profile.
Fatalone ‘Gioia del Colle’ Primitivo. Truly a unique winery... From their website... "We provide a fresh and comfortable environment through the soundproofing of the premises and temperature control; tranquillity and harmony by applying music therapy in the cellar, a mix of classical music and sounds from nature to support the micro oxygenation and the activity of the living micro flora present in our natural wines. This mix is the key to our success."
Domaine de Aubuisieres Vouvray Cuvee Silex. Bernard Fouquet is considered one of the finest producers of Vouvray, and yet his wines are very modestly priced. He has 26 hectares under Chenin Blanc in best soils in Vouvray. He works with a lutte raisonee philosophy, minimising the use of non-organic treatments as the vintage allows. This is classic Vouvray with delicious orchard fruit flavours, floral acacia honey and perfectly balanced flinty acidity.
