Tropaeolum majus, commonly known as "Nasturtium" has origins in South America, and was later grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello. Besides being beautiful, it is 100% edible! The leaves taste similar to mustard greens and horseradish, the stems have notes of citrus, the flowers delicately sweet, and the seeds compared to capers. Nasturtium can be used to make pesto or salad, and has similar health benefits to other brassica plants such as broccoli and cauliflower.

The chenopodium berlandieri species is the most widely found in North America, also known as , Pitseed Goosefoot.
