“Tomorrow I’ll do the building.” The GDR highly valued education. The main goal of education in East Germany was to teach children the importance of working and the economic factors that come with working. The creator of this image wanted to show that the children of East Germany would grow to be the workers of tomorrow in this communistic society. As seen in the short the film we pinned, East Germany’s communist society highly depends on its workers to become more developed in the future.
This short film tells the story of two brothers who collect and restore forgotten objects from forgotten places, in order to give these authentic pieces a new existence. Following their particular passion for industrial artefacts from the former DDR, they stroll across East Germany in search of abandoned factories and the stories they hold.
