Quite a year in Nardò…

Baroque Lecce (Italy). 'The extravagant architectural character of many Puglian towns is down to the local style of barocco leccese (Lecce baroque). The local stone was so soft, art historian Cesare Brandi boasted it could be carved with a penknife. Craftsmen vied for ever greater heights of creativity, crowding facades with swirling vegetal designs, gargoyles and strange zoomorphic figures.

Visited Lecce twice over the years and it always impresses me. It's home to fantastic baroque architecture and some great food/wine!
