In the early days (1949 - 1952) of CAPTAIN VIDEO, the controls the characters pretended to adjust were painted onto cardboard or very thin plywood. When Olga Druce became producer in late 1952, she insisted that the actors have real knobs and levers to play with.  In this shot made  just after Al Hodge took over the role, he can't do much but point.  [Note the real pressure gauge to the right, however.]
