It’s as complicated as you want to make it.   "Just pick up heavy stuff" will only get you so far.   As you improve, your training must evolve.   Will you evolve by trial and error? Or will you learn the physiology of what you need to do to progress?  Will you be inefficient or will you apply the right tool for the job?  My advice? Less trial-and-error. More improvement.   Of course, if you’re just interested in average results, there’s no need to put that much effort into it.
