She recently authored the New York Times Bestseller "Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey: The Lost Legacy of Highclere."

She was the real life countess at the time of the fictional Downton Abbey- really Highclerc Castle. Her father was a Rothchild & she put millions into the estate. Her husband was a famed Egyptian explorer & archeologist.
Almina Herbert, 5th Countess of Carnarvon. The Earl of Carnarvon developed an interest in Egyptology + became the financial backer of the search for Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt, assisted by Almina's wealth. In 11/1922 Carnarvon was present with archaeologist Howard Carter at the opening of the tomb. In 3/1923 Carnarvon developed pneumonia, he died 5.4.1923, + Almina returned to England with his body. Later in 1923 Almina married Lieut-Col Ian Onslow Dennistoun.
