One of the last photos of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. After a diagnosis of cancer in January 1994, she died in New York City on May 19 that same year. She is buried next to her first husband, President John F. Kennedy, and two infant children, a daughter, Arabella, and son, Patrick in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Jackie Kennedy in Oleg Cassini dress. Cassini was Mrs. Kennedy's sole designer while she was our first lady. For my vintage Barbie friends, Barbie had an identical dress, no doubt inspired by this one, called "Belle" dress - in 1962 & 1963 it was made in cotton and silk shantung in 1964. The unexpected asymmetry of the one-shoulder gown draws the eye to the top of the dress. It appears regal against a narrow silhouette as well as the soft draping of a Grecian inspired look. When Jackie Kennedy wore this Oleg Cassini black velvet one-shoulder down with long white gloves and diamonds it instantly ascended into the realm of a classic iconic image.
