Josephine Premice was a Haitian calypso singer and Broadway star who made waves in 1958 when she married Timothy Fales, a white NYC socialite. They moved to Europe for a few years to escape the resulting discrimination, which explains why she's so unsung. Their daughter, Susan Fales-Hill, was a producer and writer for A Different World
