1911 post card shows the O.C. Life-Saving Station at its original location on Caroline Street. Each Monday and Thursday the keeper and the surfmen at the station were required to perform the breeches buoy drill using the "wreck pole" outside the station. Sometimes during the summer months a lucky visitor would be invited to participate in this exercise by serving as a "shipwreck victim" and riding in the breeches buoy.
