Cantilever Barn Another feature of the Cable Mill display of Cades Cove is the preserved Cantilever barn, a design in which the upper story was larger than its base. This design allowed animals which were normally outside to stand underneath the over hang in order to get out of the sun or rain.
Ogle Place after Spring Rain. Roaring Fork Motor Trail, Great Smoky Mountains. This 19th century "saddlebag" cabin with two living areas that share one chimney is found just south of Gatlinburg Tennessee. The cabin was built by Noah "Bud" Ogle over five years spanning the late 1880's and early 1890's. I arrived just after a morning rainstorm to capture this scene. Prints @ BuiterPhotography.com
