Sheboygan County - Farm Tour - In October, Mark Ramel and his family hosted a tour for 25 residents of Harwood Place Retirement Living on their dairy farm. Residents were invited out for a ‘thrashing dinner’ including ham, potatoes, beans, corn, coleslaw, cranberries and applesauce. All made from the farm. The guests were told a brief history of the farm and toured the freestall barn, maternity pen, calf facility, milking parlor and learned about feeding operations and farm equipment.

County Activities of Excellence - The members of the Walker County Farmers Federation wanted to emphasize their support for agricultural literacy in their community. The county designed an evening banquet that brought together elementary school teachers and administrators from nineteen public and private elementary schools and regional libraries to receive gifts of books and reading barns.
