The neo-Louis XIV castle has been abandoned since the Second World War when the Rothschild family fled to England before the arrival of the Germans, who would later inhabit and plunder the house during the four-year Nazi occupation of Paris. The Rothschilds never returned to their home and over the decades it has been left to deteriorate.
The Grand House It is such a stunning old Southern mansion that is being allowed to fall into ruin. Needless to say, we don't own it nor really have access to it even though ya'll would be proud of me how I sneaked around down here to get tons of shots. No one has lived in the house for a number of years, sadly. I think a daughter by a second marriage owns it now but is in a nursing home or something . . .
