Tredegar Iron Works  - was named in honor of the town of Tredegar, Wales, United Kingdom, where iron works of the same name were constructed in the early 1800s, & was also the hometown of Rhys Davies. William Harry Schwarzschild started selling timepieces in the early 1890s and opened Old Dominion Watch Co. in 1897. In 1902, he changed the name and the scope of the business, becoming Schwarzschild Brothers Watchmakers and Jewelers.

Virginia Randolph Cottage, Henrico County - In 1908, Henrico County Training School instructor Virginia Estelle Randolph became the nation’s first Jeanes Supervising Industrial Teacher. Anna Jeanes, a wealthy Philadelphia Quaker, established a fund to employ black “supervisors” to upgrade vocational training in black public schools in the South. Shown here is the 1939 cottage in which Miss Randolph taught home economics & used as her office. It is a now a national historic landmark.
