The engineer on Santa Fe 8787 proceeds very slowly on the north track past the derailment site located just north of Highway 138 in Cajon Pass. Heavy rain storms caused track damage and ATSF 3338, 2959, 3282 and 3279 derailed, apparently after hitting a front-end loader working in the area.

https://flic.kr/p/tH29Zn | Yellowbonnet Survivor | In what I've heard is anything from one of three, to the very last Santa Fe Yellowbonnet B40-8, I was pretty surprised to see the BNSF 577 laying over in Council Bluffs, IA. This June, '88 product of Erie emerged as the ATSF 7427, and its paint has held up remarkably well for 27 years.
