You can feel the spirit of the plains and those remarkable women who settled it in every perfect word that Willa Cather writes.

My Ántonia - By Willa Cather Such a sweet and descriptive book of life on the Nebraska prairie. Also liked this one because the protagonist, Jim Burden, hails from the Shenandoah Valley, my ancestral home.

Good in 1918...still good in 2012. Truth - I agree complete and most of the Willa Cather books are in the public domain and are free too.

I loved this book so much that I had my heroine read it herself, in my new novel about pioneer life titled Wildwood, to be published in February 2018. I had not read Willa Cather before, but now I will seek out her other books for her wonderful gift of writing description and creating memorable characters. My Antonia - This is the best smelling beer! I had to keep sniffing the glass between sips. Smells like roses!

Willa Cather “My Ántonia”. I love this book, I think the description of the characters and the landscape are so wonderful, it shows great writing, one of our book club members compared it to a bouquet of flowers. this book is certainly worth reading.
