I have also seen this used really well when incorporated with a unit of work on Japan and "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes", but instead of paint they used pink crate paper scrunched up. But this is also a great idea that means the paper wont fall off if not glued properly. Also cuts down on time taken to complete the activity.
Run of the Salmon: by 5th grade students for Hidden Springs Elementary School Art Auction fundraiser with the help of Barbara K. Balkin/Back Gate Studio. Each kid created a salmon with oil pastels on paper; a few painted the background on 36x48 canvas. Rocks and grasses are magazine collage. Cut out salmon--glue on canvas--VOILA!
