*Throne of Blood (Kumonosu-jô) - Japanese - Toshirô Mifune, Minoru Chiaki, Isuzu Yamada - Director: Akira Kurosawa - Kurosawa's masterpiece, a Japanese version of MacBeth, set in feudal Japan.

Toshirô Mifune (1920–1997), actor - Mifune achieved more worldwide fame than any other Japanese actor of his century. He was born in Tsingtao, China, to Japanese parents and grew up in Dalian. He did not set foot in Japan until he was 21. About speaking English Mifune said, “I can't speak English, instead memorize English lines by the sounds of the words”.  He played the title role, Toranaga the Shogun, in the American TV miniseries "Shogun" (1980).
