On 23rd June1314 Robert I, King of Scots, killed Henry de Bohun at the commencement of the Battle of Bannockburn.    In retaliation for the defeat of English garrisons at Edinburgh and Roxburgh castles, Edward II led a massive invasion force into Scotland, where they met the Scots army at Bannockburn, near Stirling. The battle continued until the next day.

In 1302 Elizabeth de Burgh married Robert Bruce, Earl of Carrick, in Essex.  Bruce was a widower with a young daughter.  He had first married isabella of Mar who died in 1296, a short time after giving birth to a daughter, Marjory Bruce.

JAMES, 1st LORD of DALKEITH DOUGLAS.  James Douglas, 1st Baron Dalkeith 1356-1441 was a Scottish nobleman born in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland to Sir James Douglas and Agnes Dunbar. He married Elizabeth (Princess) Stewart, daughter of King Robert III, about the year 1387. They had four children before she died: William, James, Henry, and Margaret. He later remarried Janet Borthwick. James is my 18th G GRANDFATHER.
