Stand and Deliver (1988): My Educational Psychology instructor at UNCW had our class watch several "teacher" movies and analyze the pedagogy evidenced in the film. (Yes, we had to write a paper on it!) This was a class favorite, along with Lean on Me (1989) and Dangerous Minds (1995). Freedom Writers (2007) would be a great addition to the exceptional-educator example canon! ~M
Argo - I see a lot of movies each year. So far, Argo is the best film I have seen in 2012. It is an interesting historical drama that still feels very timely with today's news. The actors are all very good. There is even some humor in this otherwise intense and suspense-filled story.
I remember reading a book about this when I was a kid. I always enjoy the idea of secret worlds of little people, be they tiny trolls, hobbits, creatures that live in the bases of hollow tree trunks and exposed tree roots. In my world they are always cute and innocent and loving, always with the best of intentions!
