An orphaned baby elephant drinks milk from a bottle at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi National Park. The orphanage is operated by Daphne Sheldrick, wife of late naturalist David William Sheldrick. Once they mature (usually in eight to 10 years), the orphaned elephants raised by the trust are returned to the undomesticated elephant population in Tsavo East National Park, where David was the founding warden from 1948 to 1976. *~❤•❦•:*´`*:•❦•❤~*

A VERY SWEET SURPRISE : Ex-orphan Sweet Sally returns to DSWT with a new baby! DSWT couldn’t have wished for a more special gift on Thanksgiving than welcoming the 4th wild born baby to one of their independent and now wild ex-orphans this year alone, making a total of 16 wild born babies born to the hand raised orphans!
