1899: St. Joseph Sanitarium and Bath House under construction in 1899. he facility was built at 215 North Avenue by the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph. The architect was Theophilus Van Damme of Mount Clemens. Hospital beds were added in 1900 and bath house operations were gradually phased out, and the institution became known as St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
