This four-week unit dives into the themes and characterizations of Shakespeare's The Tempest. Students analyze gender, race, and literacy as power as they read through the play in partners, small groups, and as a whole class. They also learn how to close-read particular passages using a Postcolonial lens in order to discuss and criticize the treatment of the "other."
