A baby photo of me from the Cowra migrant camp.. As someone remarked when the work was exhibited, the eyes look askew, but somehow fall, as it were, into place, babies' faces after all are prone to wobbling.
Eye of the Beholder. My ATA colleagues proposed a "SELFIE" project. I decided to oblige: top right: in the style of Pierre & Gilles, a self portrait with slight distortion like an ICON; top left: a selfie via Skype, done with beads, surrounded by the eye of the elder, as in polynesian art + the Gay holocaust symbol + infinity.
a kimono pattern that was quite minute, when expanded it showed affinities to south east Asian textile patterns, eg Indonesian batik or ikat. The correspondences across cultural textile practices are absorbing. Because the variations are my own, it becomes an aim to design colour & patterns of interest.
