Etta James (January 25, 1938 - January 20, 2012) was an American singer-songwriter. She is credited for bridging the gap between R&B and Rock 'n Roll. Earned 6 Grammys, 17 Blues Music Awards, inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 & 2008, & Blues Hall of Fame in 2001.
