The Narva Triumphal Arch was built in Narva Square, Saint Petersburg, in 1814 to celebtrate the Russian victory over Napoleon. This structure was created for the purpose of greeting soliders home from their war victory in spite of Paris who had their Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel for a similar purpose. The arch was orginally built wooden by Giacomo Quarenghi and was redesigned in stone by Vasily Stasov in 1834.
