Freestanding forms in alleyway. Disliking the random undulating planter but liking the idea of an element that separates the space from the building and can also leave room for service vehicles. Might also be integrated in lighting.
Hard surfaces, such as traditional concrete and asphalt, allow rainwater to flow more easily off our yards, carrying pollutants to storm drains and waterways. Permeable pavement, such as porous concrete, allow water to infiltrate the ground, which decreases the amount of water that runs off of the yard. This helps to keep our waterways clean and healthy, and reduces local flooding.
