Lucie Rie fired her pieces once, instead of one bisque firing and one glaze firing. One of the reasons for this was during the war, she had to hand-carry her greenware on the underground to a kiln on the other side of London, and wanted to minimize the number of trips. She applied glaze directly to the unfired greenware.

Cylindrical Vase with Blue Waterfall Glaze...The Waterfall Blue Glaze recipe I've been working on uses the same 4 base ingredients, but for the REAL Blue color I achieved, I added 4% copper carb and .5% cobalt oxide. For the lighter version of Blue, I used 5% RIO and 1% Rutile. Similar to Ron and John's original Waterfall Brown, these glazes runs! And a Slow cook for sure
