Standing Stones of Stenness Just under a mile to the south of the Ring of Brodgar is another smaller neolithic stone monument. With links to Maeshowe (less than a mile to the east) and Skara Brae the sites are all contempory and date to about 3000BCE.
Stromness on the Orkney Islands-The first time I saw Stromness from the ferry, I cried. It was like coming home, although I'd never set foot on the island or in the town in this life prior to 11 July 2003. I've since been back twice more, and someday I will live in Orkney!
