ROUSHAM HALL GARDENS I have a painting on the wall almost exactly like this! Gorgeous!

ROUSHAM HALL GARDENS - note to self: don't deadhead the foxgloves when they start to look a little old. They're always disappointing when they rebloom, and this one here is really great, in a raggedy sort of way.

'View of Toledo', by El Greco c.1596-1600, Oil on Canvas. It's very rare to find an isolated landscape in the spanish paintings during the Renaissance and even during the Baroque. This makes El Greco the first landscaper in the history of Spanish art. Regarding its enigmatic symbolism, it is thought that it could be related to the mystic spirit that the city was involved during those times.

El Greco - View of Toledo, circa oil on canvas, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. One of two surviving landscapes of Toledo painted by El Greco.

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is an intimate collection of fine and decorative art. A vibrant, innovative venue for contemporary artists, musicians and scholars. Housed in a 15th-century Venetian-style palace with three stories of galleries surrounding a sun- and flower-filled courtyard, the museum provides an unusual backdrop for the viewing of art.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum : Landscape at the Gardner. I fell in love with this place on first visit in high school. My all time favorite museum.

Landscape by Paul Cezanne (1839 - 1906). Cezanne relied upon the colourman Julien Tanguy of Montmartre to provide him with the exciting new colours which became available in the 2nd half of the C19th. Until the last decade of the C18th only two new colours were added to the Renaissance pallette, viz Prussian blue and cobalt, but in the C19th new colours were being constantly invented. These new colours transformed painting. Impressionism could hardly have happened without them.
