The clients wish is to open up their existing kitchen and ground floor area to create an open plan living, whilst making use of the garden links. Given its large blank side elevation which is a focus point to the entrance to Winchester from Winnall, there is a change to create a contemporary focus to this building. This is something we have focused around the porch with a folded steel wrap over the front door.
Adam Knibb Architects were approached and asked to put together a contemporary scheme for a Grade II Listed House in Alresfold. A frameless glass link has been utilised to touch the existing building lightly and connect the old to the new. The extension is proposed to house a large open plan kitchen, dining area, casual seating with utility and study attached. Vertical timber cladding has been used to mimic the surrounding trees.
