Introduced in 1974 to raise funds for the first Ronald McDonald  House... in Philadelphia... inspired by the experience of  the 3-year-old daughter of Philadelphia Eagles' Fred Hill, who was being treated for leukemia... they saw so many other children's families who needed a "home away from home" for families of children being treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
