Harry Andrews (1911 - 1989) British character actor who often played sergeant-majors and other no-nonsense characters.  He had said something like: "I don't want to be a star -- I want to be a good actor in good parts" - but his presence always made him standout.  Though his parts were smaller as he grew older, he filled each of his roles, big or small - over 100 of them - with a giant's footsteps.
