The twang of a guitar reverberated off walls lined with paintings, around a room crammed with sculptures—a dizzying array of colors jumping off the otherwise white walls. “Squeaky floor!” someone yelled, and everyone froze before moving gingerly in stocking feet to find a seat during the recording. Jeff Austin wiped a streak of sweat from his forehead as he turned from the bay windows overlooking a bustling Churton Street. He strummed again, humming, before launching into his next tune.
