Galway Cathedral is the largest catholic church in Galway, the cathedral is located on Nun’s Island, on the west bank of the River Corrib near Salmon Weir Bridge. It was the last large church in Ireland to be made from stone, and features a huge octagonal dome that complements the skyline of the City of Galway.
St. Patrick's Cathedral In Dublin St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin (Irish Gallic: Árd Eaglais Naomh Pádraig) is Ireland's largest church (43-metre high spire) and was founded in 1191. It was not until 1224 that it was raised to a cathedral status and the present building dates back to 1220. It is of course named after the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, and is home to the Church of Ireland. Strangely enough the Bishop of Dublin's seat is not here, but at the Christ Church...
