Pyosalpinx - Radiopaedia.org - Usually the diagnosis is clinical, along with trans-vaginal ultrasound. On occasion the patient may reach as far as MRI - The fallopian tube is typically distended, contained high T2 signal fluid, thick enhancement of the wall of the fallopian tube, - avid internal diffusion restriction ( it is essentially a tube abscess so restricts like abscesses observed elsewhere ).

PID - Radiopaedia.org - CECT Delayed - Left sided pelvic parauterine lesion is seen. It has multiple air loculi. It shows marginal enhancement with multilocular appearance in the post contrast study. The surrounding fat planes appear strandy with little peritoneal fluid reaction. The findings are suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease with abscess formation.

Height of fundus at comparable gestational dates: An assessment skill that's essential for all OB nurses and midwifes. The height of the fundus at comparable gestational dates varies greatly from patient to patient. Those shown are most common. Convenient rule of thumb is that at five months gestation, the fundus is usually at or slightly above umbilicus. Image source: Hytten F, Chamberlain G: Clinical Physiology in Obstetrics. Boston, Blackwell Scientific Publications, 1980.

Endometrial adenocarcinoma - heterogeneously enhancing mass, with cystic component, multiple enlarged para-aortic, aorto-caval, bilateral iliac nodes, omental deposit noted in close proximity to gall bladder. there is compression of the right distal ureter by the enlarged iliac nodes resulting in moderate hydroureteronephrosis. there is compression of bilateral iliac veins by the large iliac nodes with thrombosis of left femoral vein.

Focal Adenomyosis - Multiple uterine fibroids seen in a bulky uterus. Diffusely thickened posterior junctional zone showing multiple cystic areas suggestive of adenomyosis.

Anatomy - The zonal anatomy of the uterus is best demonstrated on T2-weighted images, with the endometrium having a high signal intensity, the adjacent inner myometrium (junctional zone) a low signal intensity, and the myometrium an intermediate signal intensity
