Betrayal of a hero: He flew 92 missions as a rear gunner in the Second World War. So why won't bureaucrats let Freddie Johnson, 91, attend the unveiling of a memorial to his comrades in Bomber Command?

She's still pretty to me... But that's not the point. She was an accomplished activist before it was fashionable. Even this picture shows the inner radiance she had, that was attributed to her beauty. She also possessed the ability to put everyone around her at ease and give their best performance. She was a very special person. She got that Medal for hard and dedicated work. You don't see her getting a Croix de Guerre for all that work for her country in WW2.

Thomas John Barnardo was a Victorian doctor who tried to make life better for the thousands of street kids in the UK. He set up houses, some of which still exist. He also sent 100,000 of them some as young as 6 to Canada . Some were treated like slaves and others found a new life. Hard to say if his work was good or bad. I knew a man who was one and he suffered horribly.

This boy was rescued from the streets by Barnado. 'Before and after' pictures were used by Barnado to show how his homes helped children and thereby raised funds.
