What happens when reckless media reporting leads to completely innocent people being accused of crimes?  Fairfax Media, the publisher of Sydney Morning Herald, found out the hard way when it negligently published an article claiming that a private school teacher on Sydney’s lower north shore had resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct with students.  In the end, the NSW Supreme Court awarded the teacher 7 times what Fairfax had offered.  Our latest blog post has more.
