Casa Malaparte... a surreal work of staggering genius. Could there be a more ravishing work of architecture than Casa Malaparte? “A beautiful thing, forged out of a brutal environment,” is how architect Simon Jacobsen describes this minimalist plinth of a house, built in 1942 atop a craggy promontory on the island of Capri. “It makes you think of Greta Garbo’s famous line, ‘I want to be alone.’ Today the dwelling is owned by the writer’s heirs and most easily seen by boat.

Food for Thought: "Dolce far Niente” (Italian for “The Sweetness of Doing Nothing”)........... ….is a phrase I caught from that movie with Julia Roberts, "Eat Pray Love" When you are our of town for weeks at a time, living at a hotel, you watch whatever is on TV, and the scene about this Italian phrase inspired some "Food for Thought", since I realized I already mastered the "Sweet Art of Doing Nothing"....so here is my take on it........

This looks relaxing as well. Swinging from a palm tree wearing a straw hat is our idea of a wonderful vacation. I would have to also do some activities as well during the week but this would be relaxing for sure.

Review: The Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano

Paolo Giordano : La solitudine dei numeri primi (The solitude of prime numbers) - 2008 The more touching, sickening, destabilizing and brillant novel I ever read.

Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922–1975) Italian film director. His first novel, Hustlers, was published in 1955 with great success but was poorly received by the Italian government. It initiated a lawsuit against Pasolini. Pasolini became a victim of insinuations, especially by the tabloid press. Pasolini was murdered by being run over several times with his own car, dying on a beach near Rome. Giuseppe Pelosi, a seventeen-year-old rentboy, was arrested & confessed to the murder
