The 20th Alabama Flag carried by the regiment in 1864.  It was hidden under the clothing of the regiment’s flag-bearer to avoid surrendering it to Federal forces in 1865 and eventually made its way into the Alabama Dept. of Archives and History in 1943.

Colonel James Marshall, 52nd NC, died while leading Pettigrew's old Brigade in a charge at Gettysburg. His last order came from Pettigrew himself, he said "now, for the honor of the old North State, lead this brigade forward", and God rest his soul, he did.

Confederate spy Emeline Pigott~For several years, she hid secret messages in her skirt and carried them between New Bern, North Carolina and the sea ports. She was almost caught several times. Eventually, Union forces arrested her on charges of blockade running, and she was sent back home.

Wooden grave marker of Captain John B. Hazard (the marker spells it "Hazzard") of the 24th Alabama Infantry.  Captain Hazzard was wounded and captured at Missionary Ridge and was sent to the Union POW camp at Johnson's Island, Sandusky, Ohio.  He died there on December 31, 1863 at age 23.  He is buried in Grave 107 in the Johnson's Island Confederate Civil War Prison Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio.
