As I understand it, a photographer must take a close-up of a horse's eye just as a painter must paint a self-portrait. It so happens that I got the chance to take a buffalo eye instead. Reflected in the eye are my grandson and myself. It did turn out to be a very interesting photographic subject I must admit!

This big bull buffalo has unusual horns which look more like those of a Muskox which make him rather comical looking. Other than pictographs in the Dry Creek area near Olathe and stories about killing buffalo around Gunnison  there is no substantial evidence that buffalo ever lived in our area of Colorado, However there are several cattle ranchers who are now raising the majestic animals.
