Turfan guardian lady with cintamani on her shawl, Metropolitan Museum, New York -  This doll-like guardian figure of the Tang dynasty (7th-10thc) was found in the tomb of a lady in Turfan, China. The clothes are not made from scraps: each piece was specially woven for it. Note the Sassanian-style pearl roundels.
